New York, NY (PRWEB) June 06, 2013

The tornados in Oklahoma caused widespread devastation to homes and businesses throughout many areas. Unfortunately, after a natural disaster many consumers fall prey to unlicensed contractors looking to take advantage of a terrible situation. Homeowners and businesses needing repair should verify that their contractor is properly licensed while contractors must be aware of Oklahoma contractor licensing requirements - at the state and local level.

LicenseLogix, a leading business license service provider, announced two initiatives to help consumers and contractors through this process in an effort to promote swift and legitimate rebuilding efforts. First, they are offering homeowners their License Verification service free of charge. Second, LicenseLogix announced they will donate all profits for each contractor license filed through LicenseLogix in Oklahoma to the rebuilding effort headed by United Way.

Many general contractors, roofing contractors, electrical contractors and HVAC contractors planning to solicit residents in Oklahoma must become licensed first. Unlicensed contractors may be subject to severe penalties, and, following a natural disaster, many states increase efforts to enforce contractor licensing laws.
LicenseLogix helps contractors with all necessary license filings by working with the government authority to ease the administrative burden on the contractor.

The Oklahoma Construction Industry Board (CIB) released a statement urging contractors and home owners to be vigilant about licenses.

The CIB is the state agency licensing and registering more than 11,000 roofing, electrical, and
mechanical (Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration/HVAC) contractors. Anyone who is paid to perform roofing, electrical, and mechanical (Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration/HVAC) repair on a home must be licensed by the CIB.

LicenseLogix assists every type of business entity in researching, obtaining, and maintaining their licenses or permits.
