Citing growing demand from universities to reach students looking for undergraduate degrees, the venerable tour shifts its focus on India and expands into high school visits.

The United States is the number one destination for students from India and enrollment of students at the undergraduate level continues to grow. Responding to a surge of interest in American undergraduate education, QS announces that it has redesigned its QS World University Tour to include high school visits and expanded student interview opportunities for universities. To better accommodate the school calendar in India, the tour has also shifted dates and will run from August 2 to August 12. It will visit the key undergraduate markets of Delhi, Hyderabad, Chennai and Bangalore.

Nunzio Quacauarelli, the founder and Managing Director of QS said, "As income levels rise in India and demand for places at top-ranked domestic universities cannot be met, we hear that families are considering degrees abroad more than ever. By tailoring the QS World University Tour to the students' calendars, the company believes it can help families better understand this big decision." The QS World University Tour will be co-hosted by the company's partner in India, the Manya Group, whose Manya Abroad counseling and placement services are growing in both popularity and effectiveness to an increasing number of universities worldwide. Manya surveyed its many high school connections to identify the early tour dates, viewing early August as an ideal time to engage students in the preparation needed to study abroad.

Manya and QS have working together for the past 18 months as partners in QS Advance, a direct recruiting service that brings universities deeper into the India market. A number of these clients have confirmed that early August is ideal for their recruiting efforts as the worldwide calendar of fairs, expos and events and is already over scheduled during the normal fall season. "This pre-season tour to India should really help our efforts to better connect with the India market and help us deepen our ties with India," says Bryan Gross, Associate Vice-President of Enrollment at St. John's University. St. John's is one of 36 American university participants in the QS Advance service. A growing number of European and Australian universities are also looking to QS and Manya for assistance in India.

The QS World University Tour in India will be comprehensive and include high school visits, mini-fairs and chances for selected families to meet recruiters directly. A university fair that targets undergraduate-bound students will highlight each city visit. They are:

  •     Sunday, August 4 – Delhi
  •     Tuesday, August 6 – Hyderabad
  •     Thursday, August 8 – Chennai
  •     Sunday, August 11 – Bangalore

The company reports that further detail on fair venues and school visits will be announced shortly. Fairs are open to colleges and universities worldwide and the number of institutions will be limited to 25.

Manya Group's co-founder and managing director Aradhana Khaitan Mahna states, "Manya is delighted to extend our relationship with QS. The QS World University Rankings and QS Star Ratings have provided students with great insight into the reputation of overseas universities and the company has become a well-recognized brand in India." QS's Quacquarelli has equally positive things to state about the venture adding, "The quality of counselors and their reach into high schools is having a growing and positive effect on student services in India. Manya is opening doors to many India students by giving them insight to the broad base of options available abroad. We see this as a beautiful partnership."
