HealthSmart Appoints Loren W. Claypool as Executive Vice President of Eastern Region

HealthSmart continues national expansion

Loren W. Claypool joined HealthSmart on June 3rd. He will serve as the Executive Vice President of HealthSmart’s Eastern Region which encompasses Ohio, Kentucky, North Carolina and West Virginia. Claypool will have full P&L accountability, as well as oversight of HealthSmart’s recent acquisitions in that market.

He comes to HealthSmart from VCPI/Extendicare Health Services, Inc. (EHSI) where he was Vice President and Managing Director and CIO, respectively. He was instrumental in creating VCPI’s product portfolio and leading its growth strategy to become the leading nationwide provider of outsourced technology solutions to the Long Term/Post-Acute Healthcare sector. He also drove VCPI’s name recognition by implementing its branding and an integrated social media strategy. Claypool was previously with the firm under McDonough Caperton/Acordia.

In addition, he has a high level of expertise in strategy development, information technology, and change management. He also has a successful track record of customer relationship management and is considered to be a thought leader on healthcare reform. Claypool’s experience also extends into the Medicare/Medicaid and Workers’ Compensation arena.

Loren Claypool has an A.A.S. in Computer Science and a Regents B.A. at West Virginia State College and more than 20 years of healthcare experience. He currently lives in Wisconsin and will be relocating to Charleston, West Virginia in his new role.
