Dealing with the Aftermath of Crisis in the Workplace

FEI Behavioral Health, a national EAP, wellness and crisis management company based in Milwaukee, will present a session as part of the SHRM (Society for Human Resource Management) 2013 Annual Conference and Exposition in Chicago, IL, running June 16-19, 2013.

FEI’s Senior Director Terri Howard will present an innovative workshop, “The Human Aspect of Crisis: HR's Role in Crisis Events,” on Wednesday, June 19, at 10 am CST. The presentation will provide human resource professionals with detailed instructions for sustaining the psychological health of employees affected by crises in order assure a smooth transition into post-incident life.

The workshop will teach human resource professionals valuable skills to assist in maintaining the psychological health of their employees before, during and after moments of crisis. Participants of the workshop will discover the importance of implementing critical incident stress debriefing for employees in the aftermath of a crisis. Session attendees will walk away with applications for practicing proper self-care after working in an environment of crisis. Participants will also learn valuable practices in accounting for their people during moments of crisis.

In addition to her workshop presentation, Howard and a fellow presenter will participate in a video interview at the conference. The interview will be moderated by Kathleen Koch, the host of SHRM’s bi-weekly video program, Focus on HR. The interview will focus on challenges human resource professionals face with respect to dealing with employees after a crisis in the workplace.

The interview will tap into Howard’s knowledge and expertise on the topic and will be shared with the entire SHRM audience. In addition, Howard’s interview will be open to the public and can be viewed after the conference at http://www.shrm.org/FocusonHR.
