Index Engines has been named one of The Top 100 Companies that Matter Most in Data by Database Trends and Application, a division of Information Today, inc.
The New Jersey based information management and archiving company made the list along with other key figures in the storage industry including Dell Inc, EMC Corp and Google Inc, standing out for its patented unstructured data profiling and eDiscovery platforms, which create searchable profiles of enterprise data so companies can have a greater understanding of their information assets and can find needed data quickly.
“We’re honored to make the list and to be recognized by a publication that sees the need and importance of data management,” Index Engines Vice President Jim McGann said. “Big Data has become a big challenge and we work extremely hard to offer unique insight into the enterprise data environment so it can be better managed and costs controlled.”
The Top 100 Companies that Matter Most in Data were named by the DBTA staff writers who focused strictly on companies that provide a product or service related to data management.
Index Engine’s data profiling engine processes all forms of unstructured files and document types, creating a searchable index of what exists, where it is located, who owns it, when it was last accessed and what key terms are in it. High-level summary reports allow instant insight into enterprise storage providing never before knowledge of data assets.
Through this process, mystery data can be managed and classified, including content that has outlived its business value or that which is owned by ex-employees and is now abandoned on the network.
For eDiscovery professionals, there’s a sister product that connects to all enterprise data sources including online network data, email, offline backup tape and evidence files. It then culls and filters ESI on a single server, automatically deduplicating, denisting and filtering results so the selected data can be searched, managed, hosted and extracted to support litigation.
“I think our technology stands out because the solution so many other vendors offer for data management is adding more storage and archiving everything,’’ McGann said. “We believe in understanding what exists and taking action on it, whether that means tiering, purging abandoned files or archiving data.”
