FwdHealth, LLC Joins Friends of Howard to Keep Technology in Schools

FwdHealth, LLC is joining with local community stakeholders to solve the current information technology challenges facing local schools.

The Friends of Howard is a collaborative community effort to support The Howard School and it’s administration and students. The group consists of local churches, The Mission Chattanooga and Main Street Fellowship, non-profit organizations LAUNCH and Build Me A World and a variety of business leaders and community residents.

Presently, there is a great need for computer classes at The Howard School, where there currently are no computer classes of any kind for grades nine through twelve. FwdHealth has gotten involved because it finds this to be unacceptable in the Gig City – a city boasting a one-gigabit-per-second fiber Internet service that is 200 times the speed of the national average. It is necessary for the development of Chattanooga’s youth that they be afforded the opportunity to take advantage of such a resource.

Shayne Woods, President of FwdHealth, said, "It's up to all of us to roll up our sleeves and build the city and workforce of tomorrow - it begins with a solid education foundation that includes information technology."

"We are thrilled to have FwdHealth involved in our efforts to bring vital computer technology training back to The Howard School", said Hal Bowling with Friends of Howard. "It is a real tragedy with all the great advancements in our city that Howard students have gone the last four years without any type of computer training. FwdHealth and several other companies are setting a great example in the business community by jumping in to help correct this issue so there is at least one computer teacher in place at Howard beginning this fall."

The community can get involved by joining with the Friends of Howard and other community stakeholders to brainstorm ideas to help The Howard School and inviting any contacts with professional involvement with or knowledge of information technology to aid in these endeavors.
