Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs’ recently announced that contractors must begin using the new census data for AAPs effective January 1, 2014.
Tallahassee, FL (PRWEB) June 11, 2013
On June 12, Charu Avasthy, PHR, a leading compliance expert at Berkshire Associates, a human resource consulting and technology firm that assists companies in building their ideal, balanced workforce, will examine what HR professionals can expect when it comes to the new census data and affirmative action planning in her Big Bend SHRM Conference presentation: “The Changing Workforce—2010 Census Data and its Impact on the Big Bend Area.”
During the 2010 Census, human resource professionals and compliance officers were surprised to see the census collection tool did not solicit occupation and EEO information. Almost immediately, professionals were concerned about the absence of occupation-related questions, and wondered how data would be collected for affirmative action plans. Then the news was released, explaining the questions would be included in the American Community Survey (ACS). What does this really mean?
Charu’s session will help attendees better understand the ACS, along with the 2010 EEO Census data. Charu will specifically address the workforce demographic changes by EEO-1 categories in the Big Bend Area. This information will assist attendees in their recruiting efforts, diversity goals, affirmative action planning, and HRIS system updates. In addition, Charu will discuss Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs’ recent announcement that contractors must begin using this data for AAPs effective January 1, 2014—or sooner if desired.
