Developed by a team of health professionals for people with celiac disease or gluten sensitivity, GlutenFreedomProject.com is launched to provide a one-stop source for reliable and understandable information, customizable menu plans and grocery lists, gluten-free product recommendations and personalized coaching and support.

What makes GlutenFreedomProject.com so unique is that it consolidates the most important tools, information and resources into an enjoyable, step-by-step program that empowers people to succeed.

For the millions of Americans diagnosed with celiac disease or non-celiac gluten sensitivity, the treatment is clear – lifelong adherence to a gluten-free diet. Yet, despite the abundance of websites and blogs touting a gluten-free lifestyle and the growing number of gluten-free products on the market, people often struggle making the transition to a healthy gluten-free diet, and sticking with it. A recently launched website, GlutenFreedomProject.com, aims to make the transition easier.

According to Greg Phillips, M.S., co-founder of GlutenFreedomProject.com, research shows that long-term adherence to a gluten-free diet is poor in the absence of professional guidance and support. “There’s quite a lot to learn to safely go gluten-free and still have a healthy diet,” says Phillips. “Gluten is hidden in many foods and ingredients and the risk of cross-contamination is high when food is not prepared correctly. Dealing with your diagnosis, not to mention friends and family, can also be emotionally taxing. Getting professional help, whether online or in person, makes a big difference.”

Phillips’ daughter was diagnosed with celiac disease in 2009 and experienced many eating mishaps and failed dietary experiments while learning to manage her condition. Her struggles led Phillips and his wife, Jan, both experienced health educators, to create GlutenFreedomProject.com - an eight-week, self-directed, online program that provides people with the tools, knowledge and support to confidently live with and manage a gluten-free lifestyle.

"We recruited a top-notch team of health and nutrition professionals experienced with celiac disease and spent a year and a half building GlutenFreedomProject.com," Phillips said. “The program is modeled after other disease management programs that provide intervention and education for people with chronic diseases.”

The site provides reliable and understandable information, customizable menu-plans and grocery lists, gluten-free product recommendations and personalized coaching and support. By the end of the program, participants are able to confidently enjoy a healthy, gluten-free diet both at home and on the road, avoid accidental exposures, reduce potential anxiety or stress, and better communicate with family and friends. The program also keeps participants updated on current research in the field.

"There are certainly plenty of sources for information about going gluten-free. But what makes GlutenFreedomProject.com so unique is that it consolidates the most important tools, information and resources into an enjoyable, step-by-step program that empowers people to succeed,” Phillips said.
