Stevens Institute of Technology has named Dr. Mo. Dehghani – an accomplished expert in innovation management and technology development – as Vice Provost of Research and Industry Professor of Systems Engineering at the School of Systems and Enterprises (SSE), starting on August 1, 2013.

Reporting to the Provost and University Vice President, Dehghani will lead the continuing development of the university's research programs and play a significant role in implementing the research and scholarship component of the university's Strategic Plan.

“Stevens Institute of Technology is an incredible university with a distinguished history in engineering, engineering research and innovation,” said Dehghani. “I am excited to expand upon that history as our vision, strategy and plans have broadened to grow the research enterprise in alignment with the university's strategic plan."

Over his 30-year career, Dehghani has led and managed dozens of administrative, technical and business services, technical and scientific staff members and engineers. Most recently, Dehghani served as the Founding Director of JHU Systems Institute (SI), Head of Engineering, and a member of the Executive Council (EC) at Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Lab in Laurel, Md. Prior to joining JHU, Dehghani was the Division Leader for the New Technologies Engineering Division of Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL), in Livermore, Cali. Dehghani also served as a tenured member of faculty at Ohio University, and has, on a continuous basis, taught engineering, design, and design optimization courses at University of California and Johns Hopkins University.

“Dehghani’s track record of building faculty research teams in collaboration with national laboratories, university and industry is quite impressive - evidence of a stellar career, which demonstrates that he was the best candidate for this position,” said Stevens Provost and University Vice President George Korfiatis. “Over the next decade, Stevens will build an international reputation for its research and Dehghani will be a critical element of our success.”

Dehghani holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering and a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from Louisiana State University and Postdoctoral NSF Faculty Internship from MIT. He serves on multiple review boards of universities and national engineering organizations and is a member of several professional societies including INCOSE, CSUN, ASME, ASEE, and PMI.
