Ontario, Canada’s ACareerJob is committed to environmentally responsible operations and today announced plans to further the company’s green initiatives.

Headquartered in Waterloo, Ontario, the ACareerJob offices are currently powered entirely by zero emissions clean energy sources. A solar panel system and small wind turbine supplies all power needs and enable the company to sell back excess power into the electrical grid for profit.

The building’s heating and cooling system is fueled by a 3-ton geothermal unit and draws from heat stored in the ground. An energy efficient heat pump then transmits heating and the cooling throughout the offices, equating to responsible heating in cooler months and guilt-free air conditioning in the summer.

Today, the company shared plans to upgrade insulation and windows at its Waterloo headquarters and to begin promoting a work from home policy that will cut back on employee commutes, save gas and further reduce the company’s carbon footprint.

“We fundamentally believe that businesses can and should be environmentally responsible as that translates into social responsibility,” said John Francis, president of ACareerJob. “Companies don’t exist in isolation from their communities, rather they are a vital part of the community and must act as leaders.
Conservation is not only the right direction but a path that also allows for profit. Our company is living proof of this.”

Bostech Mechanical, a company based in Listowel, Ontario and Toronto clean energy company Solera Energy both contributed to the energy advancements at ACareerJob.

ACareerJob is the only job-matching app to offer a video resume feature in addition to a candidate profile and traditional resume attachment. When job seekers create a video resume summarizing why they’re qualified for a job it adds value and increases their chances of being noticed and contacted by employers. Unlike other career-matching websites and services, the ACareerJob emphasis is on quality not quantity of candidates presented to employers.
