More than 1,600 community leaders, valued partners, celebrities and supporters of Give Kids The World Village (GKTW) joined together at The Peabody Orlando on June 1 to help raise funds to provide magical memories for children with life-threatening illnesses at 25th Annual Give Kids The World Black & White Gala. The black-tie event raised more than $665,000 for the Central Florida non-profit “storybook” resort that provides week-long, cost-free fantasy vacations to families from all over the world.

The "Through the Eyes of a Child” themed-Gala was one of the most extraordinary of the last two decades, featuring elegant décor, gourmet cuisine and world-class entertainment. Guests were entertained by child-like characters such as fairies, life-size marionettes and candy-coated performers positioned throughout the venue.

Gourmet passed hors d'oeuvres, 20 open bars stationed throughout the venue and an exquisite three-course dinner delighted guests. Live performances by a mother/child duet, a children’s rap and dance group and an aerial theatrical production added to the excitement, keeping guests entertained and dancing throughout the evening.

One of Central Florida’s most celebrated silent auctions also provided Gala guests the opportunity to offer additional support for GKTW’s mission by bidding on luxurious vacation & spa packages, VIP tickets to sporting events and TV show tapings, exclusive shopping sprees and even guitars signed by Willie Nelson and Keith Urban. There was also a dinosaur-themed miniature golf area where guests could test their putting skills for an opportunity to win two luxury cars!

“We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to the Belz Family, The Peabody Orlando and all of their wonderful partners who have graciously shared their time, talent and gifts to make the 25th Annual Black & White Gala such an overwhelming success,” said GKTW President Pamela Landwirth. “Because of their long-standing financial commitment and the generosity of all our guests who travel from near and far to be a part of this special evening, we are able to continue our mission of providing magical memories that inspire hope for children with life-threatening illness.”

The 26th Annual Black and White Gala will be held on Saturday, May 3, 2014 at The Peabody Orlando. For ticket information, please contact Lisa Bertin-Queena at lisab(at)gktw(dot)org.
