LTS Education Systems and Scirra Ltd.™ have partnered to integrate Construct 2, the world’s leading HTML5 visual game studio application, into Stride Arcade™, a growing student community game-sharing platform, with a goal of motivating young minds' interest in STEM learning through game design.
Construct 2 is a powerful HTML5 game creator designed to allow anyone to build 2D video games with no previous coding experience needed. Through this visual drag-and-drop application, Scirra and LTS Education Systems aim to bring game design into the 21st Century classroom as a vehicle for building computer literacy, creativity and innovation, critical thinking and problem-solving skills, and restoring emphasis on Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) education.
For educators, LTS Education Systems will offer a game design curriculum aligned to National Educational Technology Standards for Students (NETSS) and performance indicators developed by the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE). The curriculum will be used in concert with the Windows-based Construct 2 system as a collaborative, project-based learning model that is a perfect fit for the students of today’s digital generation.
In addition, student game developers can share their creations and play games made by other students in LTS Education System’s online Stride Arcade student community platform.
"Educators are beginning to realize the vast benefits of teaching game development in schools. Construct 2 is already helping teach game making in schools, colleges and universities worldwide, and the feedback we receive is overwhelmingly positive,” said Scirra Co-Founder and Director Thomas Gullen. “We're excited to be working with LTS Education Systems to help us expand further into this space. Together we are making game building in education more accessible and more affordable."
“We are thrilled to partner with Scirra Ltd. to integrate the highly popular Construct 2 application into our Stride Builder™ computer literacy program,” says Ernie Gray, Chief Technology Officer for LTS Education Systems. “Our company has been integrating video games with learning for 12 years. We understand the intense focus and magnitude of learning that take place when students are engaged in a virtual space that motivates and empowers them to discover what they are capable of achieving.”
“The partnership with Scirra to equip students to now build their own games is a natural extension of the surge of learning excitement we’ve seen from LTS students for years. We couldn’t be happier to take game-based learning to the next level,” said Gray.
Schools and organizations can contact Scirra Ltd. to select from flexible subscription plans that allow staff to install the full version of Construct 2 on every computer at a school or site.
