Tour features eight weeklong family vacations across the country

The AMSOIL/Street Rodder Road Tour is in its 18th season in 2013 and for the 8th year readers are invited to “come along for the ride” for a week of fun with their cars. The street rods are once again firing up for eight weeklong vacation tours to major automotive events around the country.

The AMSOIL/Street Rodder Road Tour began in 1996, and nearly two decades later, a variety of state-of- the-art street rods have traveled more than 400,000 miles. The road tour visits manufacturing facilities, automotive museums and private car collections.

In addition to the AMSOIL/Street Rodder Road Tour, the Street Rodder editorial staff is overseeing and documenting the transformation of a stock 1951 Ford coupe in a one-of-a-kind customized street rod.

“This is a state-of-the-art street rod by one of America’s premier street rod builders –Honest Charley Garage,” said Jerry Dixey, Road Tour Director at Source Interlink Media. “The beautiful 2013 Street Rodder Road Tour car will be a balanced mix of contemporary and traditional features.”

Street Rodder is also producing a one-of-a-kind newsstand special, A Guide To Building A Street Rod: The ’49-51 Ford. This special book will concentrate exclusively on the buildup of the 2013 AMSOIL/Street Rodder Road Tour car with in-depth coverage on everything from chassis to powertrain to wiring, paint, upholstery, and all the steps in-between.
