Friendships are renewed as Ravensis Nevar come together to release Single ‘Sun Beats Down’ from their new album 25 Years Afloat on the Deep Blue Sea, with all proceeds going to Macmillan Cancer Support, and entry into a Free Spanish holiday prize draw worth £1850 on purchase of the new CD

25 Years Afloat on the Deep Blue Sea was 2 years and 3 months in the making, with 15 musicians participating in the project. David McAlister, Ravensis Nevar’s co-songwriter explains, “We gathered together after a close friend's wife was diagnosed with cancer and the journey that led to this 9 track CD unfolded from there.” He added, “The reworked original songs were sounding fresher than ever as we unwrapped them from their 15 year hiatus.”

Ravensis' original bass player was also affected by cancer recently and the band used the creation of the music as a way to work through the stress of illness. The tracks are deliberately upbeat, sunny and happy to create a positive fame of mind. David said of the mood of the CD, “We were striving to maintain this positivity throughout. Music is a great healer, and it became a project with a purpose, other than just for commercial gain.”

Ravensis Nevar will not take any profit from sales and have taken the decision to donate everything to Macmillan Cancer Support. Key members from the original band line-up embraced the idea, having been tracked down after many years, and throughout the next 24 months the project gained momentum, taking on a life of its own. Many other musician friends from the band’s past, were then invited to come from Canada, Europe and England to the studio in Glasgow to make contributions.

Purchase of CD and donations can be made through Ravensis Nevar's website The aim is to reach a £50,000 donation target through sales of the CD and there is a tiered structure of donation where the public are invited to choose their option. Option 1 ensures entry into a Spanish Holiday Prize Draw with free accommodation at the band's villa and flights up to £500 on offer.

Macmillan Cancer Support are working together with Ravensis Nevar on their ground-breaking charitable effort. Almost 97% of Macmillan’s income is through generous public donations. 1 in 3 people will be diagnosed with cancer at some point in their lifetime and it will be the toughest fight many will face. Macmillan Cancer Support's campaign delivers the message that that nobody should face that fight alone. The money raised will allow Macmillan to continue providing emotional, practical and financial support to people affected by cancer and their families throughout the UK.

25 Years Afloat on the Deep Blue Sea, containing an upbeat mix of pop rock harmony, will be available as a CD and digital download on iTunes, Amazon plus all other major download sites.
