The money that the average family spends on kerosene or candles can amount to a large portion of their income. Productivity increases an average of 30% in areas where safe solar light is now available. If that savings is applied to life improvements like tuition for school children, and increasing economic opportunities, people would break the cycle of poverty themselves.

There is also an environmental impact to using clean, sustainable solar power light. The conversion from kerosene to solar light eliminates hundreds of tons of carbon emissions into the atmosphere each year.
