Universal Woods is honored to welcome the invitation to the U.S. Treasury to participate in the Capital Access Innovation Summit hosted by the Department of the Treasury and the Small Business Administration. Paul Neumann, President and CEO of Universal Woods, a Louisville-based manufacturer which was named Kentucky Association of Manufacturers’ (KAM) 2012 Small Business Manufacturer of the Year, will attend the conference at the Treasury Department in Washington D.C. on Monday, June 10th.

Agenda topics of the conference include strategies for public and private capital market access, innovation in data and financial technologies, along with corporate support for the growth of small businesses. According to event agenda materials, Treasury Secretary Jack Lew, SBA Administrator Karen Mills, Director of the National Economic Council Gene Sperling, and Under Secretary for Domestic Finance Mary Miller, are expected to address the Summit on Monday.

Neumann commented on his upcoming visit to the Treasury, “The majority of new job creation will come from companies with less than 500 employees, so providing growth capital to these businesses is critical to the success of the U.S. economy. I am happy that the Treasury and Commerce Departments understand the value of small businesses and are looking for input from a variety of companies to allow for support and improved access to capital via market innovation. We are glad to be one of those companies representing Louisville and the Commonwealth.”

Earlier this year, Universal Woods had an opportunity to discuss successes and challenges regarding the exportation of goods when they were visited in February by Under Secretary Francisco Sanchez from the International Trade Association as part of the Bluegrass Economic Advancement Movement (BEAM) initiative; a partnership by both Louisville Mayor Greg Fisher and Lexington Mayor Jim Gray to strengthen economic opportunities in the Bluegrass.

Presently, Universal Woods exports products to over 45 countries and plans to continue to increase export volumes in 2013 and beyond.
