Robert Silverberg and Damien Broderick have collaborated on a new book based on Silverberg’s classic novella “Born With the Dead,” which is being offered at the extraordinary price of 99 cents for just one day.

Death, and our response to it, has always fascinated us, and just when we think we have explored all perspectives on the issue someone blows us away with a totally new take on it. Robert Silverberg accomplished that when he wrote his classic novella “Born With the Dead,” in which he examines our relationship with the dead by imagining a world where the dead are “rekindled” and brought back to a not-quite-alive state.

The story was published to overwhelming acclaim and was nominated for several major awards, winning a number of them, including the Nebula and the Locus Awards. It continues as one of the great classics of science fiction on the subject.

While the novella met with both critical and commercial success, many felt that part of the story had been left untold.

It takes major conviction to re-visit an established classic. But in Beyond the Doors of Death, Robert Silverberg does just that with his writing partner, Damien Broderick. This newly published book takes the original story and extends it to breathtaking new dimensions, and makes it, as Publishers Weekly states, a “broad, Intriguing speculation on human evolution and first contact.”

Beyond the Doors of Death is available as a trade paperback and as an ebook from Amazon and other stores. Booksellers may contact the publisher or obtain the book from Ingram at fully discounted rates.

As a special promotion, the ebook version of the book (regularly priced at $7.99) will be offered for 99 cents on for one day on Thursday, June 13.
