MyTSOnline's Travel Services addressed the top two complaints of new members, and how they hoped to improve on these issues at a “members only” function.
The biggest complaint was that membership had an upfront fee. Everybody wants something for nothing. And while most people see the savings match up to their membership fee in their first year, they still complain that the membership is costly and cite major grocery store clubs as an example where they only have to pay an annual fee, without an initial membership fee.
According to Travel Services Management, the other big complaint is definitely the gift as many think it’s a scam. All prospective clients receive a free cruise, or airline tickets, or a hotel stay and even restaurant cash to encourage them to attend a sales presentation. But it's clearly stated upfront that all taxes and fees must be paid by the attendee and not by Travel Services. It is a complimentary gift and all travel does come with blackout dates and restrictions.
One Travel Services manager said, "The travel gifts are similar to a rebate in that these gift company certificate companies are hoping that the gift won’t be fulfilled. It's also rather counterproductive for a new client to hear about how amazing our travel agency is and then deal with the frustrations of the gift from another travel company. But unfortunately, we can't fulfill all travel gifts for non-members for that would use up our man power. Our best advice is to use the complimentary gift as a fun trip and not a major vacation. We also recommend that the airfare certificates are not used to get to a wedding. The complimentary cruise is an inside cabin, so we just recommend taking the inside room, even though that's so against our philosophy, for we want clients to have the best. One can upgrade their gift, but then they lose the benefit of the gift."
