Meridian Entertainment International, Inc. has announced that the Los Angeles Coliseum will host a major international soccer event on Sunday, July 21.

The World Cup Players All-Star Match & Gala will pit East vs. West and feature many of the world’s top footballers. All participants in the event have either played in the World Cup or in the UEFA Champions League, including World Cup winners from France, Brazil, Italy and Spain.

“This is sure to be the biggest soccer event of 2013, and we are very excited to see the world’s most prolific players compete against one another in this exhibition match,” said Mike Bannan, Manager of Meridian Entertainment International. “There are few opportunities to see this type of competition outside of the World Cup, and so this is a rare chance to see some high-quality play. We look forward to what will definitely be an unforgettable event.”

The World Cup Players All-Star Match & Gala has invited many of the world’s top players, including Zinedine Zidane, Ronaldo, Roberto Carlos, Cuauhtémoc Blanco, Okocha, Carlos Marchena López, Fernando Llorente Torres, Riquelme, Seedorf, Bosingwa, Juan Sebastian Veron, Ariel Ortega, Batistuta, Danny Fonseca, Song (Cameroun), John Paintsil, Peter Crouch, Gary Neville and many others. The West team will include players from Central, North and South America, while the East’s team will come from the rest of the world, including Africa, Asia and Europe.

There are a number of confirmed musicians who have agreed to perform at the event, including world-renowned recording artist Psy. The University of Southern California cheerleaders will also make an appearance.

At the event, volunteers will collect non-perishable and canned food items, monetary donations, children’s toys, and new and used clothes and shoes. These donations will be sent to refugee camps and war zones in Syria and the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Additionally, a portion of the proceeds from the overall event will be donated to the U.N. World Food Program’s efforts to fight hunger in these nations.
