There’s more of “The World’s Best Frozen Yogurt” now for consumers in Northern Virginia. The newest Zinga Frozen Yogurt store in the country opens June 14 inside the Falls Plaza Shopping Center, 1106-A West Broad Street, Falls Church, VA.

The new store is the second Northern Virginia store to be opened by Zinga franchisees Bill and Kasi Hansen. The store manager is Drew Hafer. Store hours are Sunday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Phone: (703) 533-2323.

“This area is special to Kasi and me,” said Bill Hansen, a Yorktown High School graduate, coach and longtime local resident. “Our kids have played sports in the Falls Church youth programs for the past ten years. We’ll be serving our friends and neighbors and that means a lot to us.”

The Hansens indicated that the new store, like their recently opened store in Arlington, would be involved with local charities and civic organizations, high school groups and local sports programs. They are adamant about the fresh ingredients, myriad offerings and ability to help consumers make healthful choices.

“We don’t use powder like a lot of our competitors,” said Kasi Hansen. “And we love the fact that Zinga’s basic self serve offerings of frozen yogurt, fresh fruit and nuts can help promote weight loss, as suggested by a 2011 Harvard study.”

To celebrate the opening, there will be a free Frozen Yogurt Pre-Grand Opening for anyone who “likes” the new store on Facebook at prior to the official opening.

Zinga Frozen Yogurt is self-serve and is sold by the ounce. The store will offer a dozen yogurt flavors a day (including fat free and low fat) and more than 50 toppings. Some of the yogurt flavors include Bayou Praline, Birthday Cake, Blueberry Tart, Café Au Lait, Chocolate Mint, Granny’s Apple Pie, and Red Velvet Cake. For those who want a dairy free option, there are sorbets such as Mango Tango, Pink Lemonade and Watermelon, to name a few. In addition, a no sugar-added flavor is available daily. And coming soon: Greek yogurt.

All of Zinga’s yogurt flavors meet the National Yogurt Association’s criteria for “live and active culture yogurt.”

Established in early 2011, ZINGA! “The World’s Best Frozen Yogurt,” is growing quickly in the self-serve frozen yogurt segment. Its franchise restaurant savvy leadership seeks successful franchise restaurant operators to become early entrants into the segment’s fast-growing concept. Zinga President John Fitchett said Zinga Franchise Group has 285 stores currently in development in 12 states. He projects 17 more stores to open in 2013. Fitchett’s lengthy career includes stints as area director, franchisee and vice president of development for large franchise restaurant chains.
