Detectives from Private Detective Coventry give information regarding fraud investigations in light of recent BBC News report dated 7th June 2013: Five guilty of 20m north Wales mortgage fraud

The case of the five Welsh mortgage fraudsters seems to have been a difficult investigation for the police, as all five were trusted members of the public with high profile jobs and good reputations

According to the BBC News report dated 7th June 2013: Five guilty of 20m north Wales mortgage fraud, a former police officer, his wife, a solicitor, property speculator and a surveyor are among the five people convicted of massive mortgage fraud. Mold Crown Court heard how Antony Lowry-Huws, Susan Lowry-Huws, Frank Edward Darlington, Nicholas John Jones and Sheila Rose Whalley allegedly defrauded mortgage lenders with 189 mortgage applications. Case number T20117073 was sat by Judge Rhys Rowlands and the five will be sentenced in September.

The BBC News report goes on to say that the scam was achieved by inflating the value of the property used as security, hiding the fact that sometimes no deposit was used as security, or inflating the rental income potential to make the mortgage rate lower. This investigation is one of the largest of its nature ever conducted and took North Wales Police almost five years to complete.
