Lebara, one of Europe’s leading mobile telecoms operators for foreign nationals, was awarded ‘Best Virtual Network Operator’ at the Mobile Industry Awards 2013 in London on Thursday 6th June.
Its third industry award this year further recognises Lebara for its business and marketing success, innovation and customer praise, supported by the independent judges’ feedback. Lebara was the favoured winner over other MVNOs in this category, Tesco Mobile, Gamma and Virgin.
The panel of judges felt that Lebara was the most innovative and distinct brand, offering a unique service. One judge commented, "Lebara is what an MVNO should be. It has identified a niche and is doing cool, fun things within that space." Lebara was praised for showing it can respond to customer needs with new products such as the Lebara Money worldwide transfer service and providing a free service for all the athletes and staff to call home in the Olympic Village during the London 2012 Games.
Yoganathan Ratheesan, Chairman of Lebara Group, commented, “I am so pleased we have received this fantastic award in recognition of Lebara’s continuous commitment to serve our customers and communities. We will continue to put them at the heart of everything we do by providing high quality and low-cost products and service. Thank you everyone in the Lebara Team for their hard work.”
This adds to two previous industry awards collected in March at the Mobile News Awards 2013; Lebara was awarded Best MVNO and Best Community & Social Enterprise.
Lebara was founded in 2001 and employs over 1,200 people in its eight markets around the world. The London based call centre serves all of its seven European operations, with staff fluent in over 25 languages. Lebara’s commitment to customer service and experience was recognised in 2012 through eight awards.
