Pennsylvania State Police Commissioner, troopers, and executive staff from The H&K Group and Pocono Raceway pose with the ARCA car.

“They’re there for us, and we don’t always think of them until we need them. It’s a good opportunity to support Pocono, and of course the state police,” Haines said.

The H&K Group, being as large and diversified as it is, has had its name on hundreds of various types and sizes of vehicles and equipment. But on June 5, 2013, new territory was charted with the unveiling of The H&K Group sponsored racecar for last Saturday’s Pocono ARCA 200.

The car, #86, which is owned by Fox Motorsports of Pocono Summit, PA, was driven by Nick Igdalsky, who happens to be Pocono Raceway’s Chief Operating Officer, and grandson of Pocono Raceway’s founder, the late Dr. Joe Mattioli. The hood of the car carried the Pennsylvania State Police patch in order to honor its fallen troopers.

This special tribute was a collaborated idea between Fox Motorsports and Nick Igdalsky, in response to a local trooper, Joshua Miller, who was killed in the line of duty in 2009. When the idea was presented to James T. Haines, Chief Operating Officer of The H&K Group, he was immediately on board to sponsor the vehicle. “They’re there for us, and we don’t always think of them until we need them. It’s a good opportunity to support Pocono, and of course the state police,” Haines said.

Pennsylvania State Police Commissioner Frank Noonan was at the track on Wednesday, June 5 when the car was unveiled and prepared for its test session. He thanked the team for remembering Trooper Miller. “I get to know the families of the fallen officers, and it means a great deal to them to have their loved ones remembered, and also to us, that people are still thinking of them,” Noonan said.

The H&K Group was presented the opportunity to sponsor the vehicle due to a near two-decade long business relationship with Pocono Raceway. The H&K Group paved the famous tri-oval track in 1995, and then last year did a complete reconstruction of the track during the 2012 off-season, and then performed work on the infield surface during the 2013 off-season.
