Midland Park, NJ (PRWEB) June 12, 2013
Barry Brandman, President of Danbee Investigations, Midland Park, NJ will be a featured speaker at the 11th North American 3PL Summit that will be on June 18-20, 2013 at the Radisson Blu Aqua in Chicago.
The threats, opportunities and game-changers confronting the commercial supply chain in the coming year are on the agenda at this gathering of logistics executives. One of the priorities is protecting the supply chain from terrorism and theft.
The Customs-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (C-TPAT) program was introduced by U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) in response to the attacks that occurred on September 11th. One of the program’s objectives is to prevent another act of terrorism by smuggling a weapon of mass destruction into the U.S. via the commercial supply chain. Over 10,000 companies are voluntarily enrolled in this landmark program, which is now being replicated by other countries around the globe.
Barry Brandman is regarded as one of the country’s top security experts. His presentation is entitled “What Every CEO Needs to Know About the Latest Developments and Plans for C-TPAT & Supply Chain Security.”
Mr. Brandman is the author of three security texts and has been a guest speaker for organizations both domestically and internationally, including the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, the Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals, the International Cargo Security Forum, the International Association of Refrigerated Warehouses, the International Warehouse Logistics Association, the National Retail Federation and the International Compliance Professionals Association.
“The C-TPAT program has been instrumental in preventing a WMD from being smuggled into the United States,” explains Mr. Brandman. “Additionally, C-TPAT provides an array of security, logistical and financial benefits for corporations of all sizes, which is why this voluntary program has grown so rapidly and 3PL’s are eager to obtain certification.”
“I will be sharing strategies proven to be highly effective at maintaining a world class security program, as well as how to avoid putting your C-TPAT certification in jeopardy. Many companies who were admitted to the program have had their certification suspended or permanently revoked because of a major security breach or a failed validation by CBP. It’s not easy or inexpensive to undo the damage when this occurs, which is why warehousing companies, freight forwarders and carriers don’t want to find themselves in this situation,” advises Brandman.
