Fresh off a $4.4M round of financing and 70% year-over-year headcount growth, StepLeader achieves another milestone with this launch. Internally dubbed the “Cornbread” release, it includes major improvements to both their apps and supporting infrastructure.
The design elements of the app place greater focus on imagery and video, complementing the storytelling and content that their customers produce. By creating an experience that closely mirrors standard browsing behavior with multiple images and videos per story, clickable HTML links, and related story inclusion, app users will quickly feel comfortable moving through the app. The hidden navigation menu frees up valuable space for content while also presenting users with more than twice the menu items previously available, increasing content exploration and interaction.
“We are excited about the new design. StepLeader included us during the design process, and we feel like a true partner,” remarks Andrew Newland, Manager of Online Media for ComCorp. “Their innovative approach seamlessly blends together a beautiful new user interface with easy-to-use navigation. The design will delight our audience and along with our best-in-class local content, will keep them coming back for more.”
StepLeader also invested heavily in their back-end infrastructure and scalability. “With the approach the engineering team adopted with this rebuild, we now have the ability to begin offering uniqueness at scale and supporting new releases every month,” states Brian Handly, CEO of StepLeader. “Our partners have been asking for a unique approach, and we’re thrilled to bring this App-as-a-Service backbone to the market.” Customers will soon be able to implement any front-end app design on top of StepLeader’s architecture. This new infrastructure also allows for greater openness, facilitating third-party integrations and content partnerships.
“We understand how important it is to continually adapt and evolve our mobile products, not only with design but also with infrastructure,” says John Conway, GM of WRAL.com. “With the new applications we are able to support a richer mobile experience that draws users in with more images, video, related stories, and new advertising opportunities.”
