Russon to serve a four-year term.

David Russon, founder, president and CEO of Salt Lake City-based Investment Management Consultants (IMC), was recently appointed to the Utah Securities Commission by Governor Gary R. Herbert. The five-member commission supports and advises the Utah Division of Securities – the state agency responsible for regulating the Utah securities industry in the state and enforcing state securities laws.

Russon, who will serve a four-year term, has worked within the financial industry for 30 years, during which time he has gained experience in a wide range of investment climates. Throughout his career, he has studied market trends and provided investment advice to various clients, ranging from institutional clients to high net worth individuals.

“I’m honored by the opportunity to serve the investing public of Utah as a member of the Securities Commission of the Utah Division of Securities,” Russon said. “The Division maintains a very high standard of ethics through its regulation of the securities industry as well as the enforcement of Utah securities law. As a Commissioner, I will seek to provide thoughtful and meaningful direction through my activity, and I look forward to making a positive difference.”

The Utah Division of Securities seeks to create a level playing field in the investment industry and ensure minimum standards of competence, training and fair-dealing by issuing licenses to broker-dealers and investment advisers and all of their agents and representatives that do business in the state. In addition to regulating the securities industry, the Division's mission includes a mandate to help educate and protect Utah's investors.

Russon’s responsibilities at IMC involve the management and day-to-day operations of the firm, providing advice and solutions for clients and the supervision of all IMC Advisors. His expertise in the financial industry is highlighted not only by the success his company has experienced, but also by the many individuals who seek his advice. He is regularly approached by news media sources that seek his analysis of current financial issues.

“With 30 years in the securities industry, I am confident that I can bring knowledge and experience to the Commission,” Russon said.
