Through this new partnership with Rx ‘n Go, we are not only fulfilling that commitment but we are also integrating with other organizations to expand our reach and provide our products to more people living with diabetes.
Charlotte, N.C. (PRWEB) June 12, 2013
Prodigy Diabetes Care announced today its partnership with alternative pharmacy network, Rx ‘n Go, to launch a new initiative designed to help self-funded employers reduce medical costs and increase members’ choices of diabetes testing products to positively impact diabetes self-monitoring compliance. The new program is scheduled to go into effect July 1, 2013 and will offer employers access to fixed price diabetes monitors and test strips.
With reduced Medicare reimbursement rates for diabetes testing supplies also taking effect July 1, 2013, the Prodigy and Rx ‘n Go partnership comes at an ideal time. In the midst of thousands of suppliers being eliminated from the market, there is an anticipated demand for high-quality, low-cost products among durable medical equipment suppliers and pharmacies. Prodigy’s contract with Rx ‘n Go is a proactive step to ensure increased access to affordable diabetes testing products in preparation for the market shift for employers that are already feeling the pressure of escalating healthcare costs.
“At Prodigy we are committed to providing our customers with affordably priced diabetes testing products at the highest level of quality,” said Rick Admani, Prodigy COO. “Through this new partnership with Rx ‘n Go, we are not only fulfilling that commitment but we are also integrating with other organizations to expand our reach and provide our products to more people living with diabetes. With all the changes health care reform is bringing, we know it’s important to continue to meet the needs of existing customers while finding new ways to grow our business. Our new relationship with Rx ‘n Go is designed to help us do that.”
“The timing of our partnership could not happen at a better time for our clients, said Robert Gilmore, President and CEO of Rx ’n Go. “As we have seen in the past, the reduction of CMS reimbursement rates will shift diabetic test strip provider’s revenue shortfall to health plans, self-funded groups and individuals. In addition to offering Prodigy meters and test strips Rx ‘n Go continues to provide creative programs and services to help employers and individuals obtain the medication and supplies they need while providing lower cost, improving choice and positively impacting compliance of ongoing health conditions.”
As part of the Prodigy and Rx ‘n Go program, payors are incentivized to offer their diabetes members access to the diabetes monitors and test strips they need at no cost. By removing financial barriers and offering the added convenience of home delivery for testing supplies, the new program strives to improve the lives of members with diabetes.
The Prodigy and Rx ‘n Go program is offered as a choice to expand the options plan members have for obtaining their diabetes monitors and test strips. The program is not intended to replace its existing relationship with the local pharmacy or pharmacy benefit manager.
