Don your fancy hats and sparking tiaras. It’s time to make your reservations for Prince William and Princess Kate’s Royal Baby Shower event.
Celebrate with the traditional pomp and circumstance that surrounds the impending birth of the future ruling monarch of England at an authentic royal baby shower event at the English Rose Tea Room from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m., Friday, June 21 at 201 Easy Street, in Carefree, Arizona.
Admission to the all-day celebration commemorating this historic international event is $30 per person and includes formal afternoon tea with three tiers of tea sandwiches, scones and petite fours, a pot of tea, and a specially prepared goody bag. Seating is limited. Reservations are recommended by calling 480-488-4812.
Life-sized cutouts of the princess, Prince William and other sovereigns are just one of the many surprises awaiting guests who will have an opportunity to win souvenirs and collectibles, and to sign a baby book offering good wishes and parenting advice for the Duchess of Cambridge, affectionately known across the world as Princess Kate.
Immediately following the event, the baby book will be sent directly to Kensington Palace, just in time for the delivery of the child who is expected in mid-July.
Guests will have an opportunity to take their chances to win jeweled encrusted baby slippers and other prizes by predicting the most pressing questions surrounding the new baby including whether the child will be a boy or a girl, what the child will be named and other traditional baby shower festivities.
Following the tradition of Kate who made 111 charity appearances last year, and of William’s mother Princess Diana who dedicated her life to public service, guests are encouraged to bring gifts for mothers and newborn child including nappies (diapers), prams (strollers), and necessary clothing items such as onesies and bibs. Decorative diaper cakes will be created and on display throughout the event and, all of the gift items will be donated to the new mothers at UMOM New Day Center in Phoenix. The non-profit agency was founded in 1964 and is the largest homeless shelter for families in Arizona.
“The world watched Prince William and Kate Middleton’s fairytale wedding at Westminster Abbey. Now, we await the birth of their first child, the third in line to the British throne, perhaps the most anticipated birth in the world,” said Jo Gemmill, a native of England and owner of the English Rose Tea Room.
The quaint restaurant, located in the tiny desert town of Carefree with a population of only 3,400, is noted for their British celebrations including the Royal Wedding, Queen Elizabeth’s Diamond Jubilee celebration and the Queen’s birthday party, and has become a renowned destination for royal watchers visiting Arizona from around the globe.
