Marin Country Mart in Larkspur invites local residents and visitors to enjoy three special series of music and movies -- all complimentary -- through September 29: "Friday Night Jazz" on Fridays from 6-9 pm, the "Folkish Festival" on Sundays from 12:30-2:30 pm, and "Movies on the Green" on Wednesdays from 6-8 pm.

Marin Country Mart is pleased to announce an inviting agenda of entertainment this summer, featuring three distinctive series. The programs are designed to welcome families and adults to enjoy movies, music and Larkspur’s warm summer weather in Marin Country Mart’s congenial village atmosphere. Featuring over 40 separate events – all complimentary – the summer lineup includes two musical series, brand-new this year, and a film series, now in its third season.

The first series, “Friday Night Jazz,” offers 16 concerts through September 27, all held on Fridays from 6 – 9 pm. Some of California’s best jazz players will be presented, including the Ken Cook Quartet, George Cole Quintet and Gypsy Jazz, Lorca Hart Trio, and Katie Thiroux Duo.

The second musical series is dubbed the “Folkish Festival” by James Rosenfield, Marin Country Mart’s owner, reflecting the series’ range of talented folk and American roots musicians from San Francisco to Nashville. The festival features 16 weekly concerts thru September 29 on Sundays from 12:30 – 2:30 pm. Featured performers range from old-time folk music like David La Flamme to up-&-comers like Dustbowl Revival and Leftover Cuties.

Back by popular demand, the third series, “Movies on the Green,” is presented on Wednesday evenings from 6 – 8 pm from June 19 – August 28. The film offerings feature favorite family fare, new and old, that both kids and adults enjoy. The 11 movies include "Finding Nemo," "Ratatouille," "Wreck-It Ralph," "The Sound of Music" and "Mary Poppins."

All Marin Country Mart events are held in the courtyard, where greenery and seating offer the ambience of a small village and an inviting setting where neighbors can meet and mingle. While many benches are available, visitors are encouraged to bring beach chairs or blankets to sit on. Food and drinks are available from 13 eateries on the property. In addition, take-away Courtyard Picnics can be pre-ordered online from Belcampo and Rustic Bakery. Many shops will be open as well so visitors can browse the tempting summer merchandise when they want to stretch their legs.

This is the first year that Marin Country Mart has presented such an extensive program of special events for the summer. Events Manager Diana Rodgers expressed enthusiasm for the new entertainment offerings. “Marin Country Mart is proud to support the arts,” she said. “Drawing often from the Bay Area’s deep pool of talent, we’re delighted to offer the community good quality fun, solid programming, and excellent musicianship in several genres.”
