Omar Barlow, CEO, Eastern University Academy Charter School(EUACS), a Philadelphia-based, early college high school, serving 7th-12th-grade students, and supported by Eastern University, is competing against three semi-finalist in the 11th Annual Ford Neighborhood Award, under the category of "Best Community Leader," hosted by nationally recognized entertainer and radio/television personality, Steve Harvey. If chosen, Mr. Barlow will receive a $30,000 grant to fund the school’s “Passion Projects,” including the opportunity for students to study abroad and to earn college credits while still in high school.
The 11th Annual Ford Neighborhood Award honors local businesses, religious, and neighborhood leaders, churches, and high schools, in 12 categories, for their contributions and excellence within their own communities. Nominees in each category receive round trip air fare to Las Vegas, ground transportation, hotel accommodations at The Mandalay Bay Resort, a chance to walk the Blue Carpet with celebrity presenters and tickets to the award ceremony.
Voting is open to the general public, and takes place on Tuesday, June 18, from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM EST.

Barlow, who was recently named a 2013 BMe Leadership Award winner - BMe stands for "black male engagement" – honored for working to build stronger communities, and awarded $10,000, to aid in funding EUACS “Passion Projects,” is co-founder of Barlow Enterprises, a motivational speaking organization that empowers, educates and motivates people to live lives of excellence.

Eastern University Academy Charter School (EUACS) is a Philadelphia-based, early college high school, serving 7th-12-grade students and supported by the nationally recognized Eastern University. The school, founded in 2009, embraces the Early College program model, wherein students have the opportunity to prepare for, and earn up to 60 college credits, prior to graduation.
