As it is revealed that UK smartphone use continues to grow at an unprecedented rate, the online marketers at Absolute Digital Media have commented on the estimated future of this trend.

The article, "Nearly Half of UK Consumers Will Use Smartphones This Year," published 10th June in eMarketer, predicts there will be 30.9 million smartphone users in the UK this year, equating to 48.4% of the population. By the end of next year, this figure is expected to rise to 34.6 million and by 2017, there is expected to be an impressive 43.4 million users. During this time, 18-24 year olds will have the highest percentage of smartphone uses, with the percentage decreasing with age. Through 2013, it is believed that only 13% of over 65s will be smartphone users.

In 2012 and the early stages of 2013, the most popular smartphone models for first time users were the Samsung Galaxy S2 and S3, the iPhone 4S and iPhone 5 and HTC One X.
