For avid skiers and snowboarders, Vail in Colorado, USA, is always a popular resort to visit: it’s a big mountain with a decent vertical and Blue Sky basin which adds to its attraction. The resort itself is almost four miles stretching along the I-70 freeway running west from Denver.

Beaver Creek is a mere 16km away and is covered by the lift pass available from the resort. Also included in this lift pass are the ski resorts of Breckenridge and Keystone both owned by Vail Resorts, a premier mountain resort company specialising in destination based travel at iconic locations.

Vail Resorts, which will operate ten ski areas in five US states for the 2013-14 ski season, has announced a $130 million USD to $140 million USD capital expenditure on its resorts for 2013; much of it coming up over the spring and summer in readiness for next winter.

One of the most visible parts of this gargantuan spend will be the replacement of Vail’s Mountaintop Express Lift with a high speed, six-passenger chairlift. The Mountaintop Express Lift is one of Vail’s busiest lifts serving both a critical skiing sector of the mountain and an important access route from Mid-Vail to the Back Bowls and Blue Sky Basin. The new six-passenger chairlift will increase capacity by 33%, which the resort believes will dramatically reduce lift queues and build on the success of last winter’s new Gondola One.

After a day on the slopes retreat to the four-star Vail Cascade Resort and Spa where customers can enjoy a range of facilities which include; three hot tubs, steam room, health club and dine at the Atwater on Gore Creek restaurant and fireside bar with entertainment. The hotel provides a bed and breakfast board basis from £1207 per adult based on four sharing, has a ski in / ski out location and located one mile away from the centre of Vail.

For those who want to experience the number one USA resort for British skiers, Breckenridge is available from £1057 per adult staying at the Pine Ride Condos. Whilst staying in resort, skiers and snowboarders will be able to ski the highest area in Colorado and gain an extra chance to ski another four top resorts on the lift pass.

All packages include flights, transfers and accommodation, departing from 17 UK airports. Call Crystal Ski on 0871 231 2256 to book your 2014 ski holiday visit http://www.crystalski.co.uk for more information.
