Bill Kuhlman Joins Smart Devine as Managing Director in Their Research & Development Tax Practice

Smart Devine (http://www.smartdevine.com), the full-service accounting, tax and advisory firm, announces today that it has hired Bill Kuhlman as a Managing Director in their Research & Development (R&D) Tax Consulting practice. Kuhlman has 25 years of progressive tax experience and over seventeen years of R&D tax credit specialization.

His primary responsibilities include executing the continued development of specialty tax credit and incentives national practice, including continued expansion of CPA firm services network. He has spent the 17 years consulting with middle market US corporations and was instrumental in the success of national, regional and boutique R&D tax consulting practices.

Prior to joining Smart Devine, Bill served for three years as the Federal Tax Services Director with Geller & Company (New York, NY) where he developed a specialty R&D tax credit incentives practice and responsible for approximately $50 million in client R&D tax credits, including multi-national clients. Kuhlman was in leadership capacity in other national and regional R&D professional service firms including, SourceCorp TBG (Fort Worth, Texas)and Tax Solutions Group with Plante & Moran, PLLC (Portage, Michigan). Bill and his team were instrumental in building their respective R&D practice and responsible for approximately $100 million in client R&D tax credits.

Bill holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from Michigan State University, a Masters of Science in Finance from Walsh College. He is a Certified Public Accountant licensed in Texas and Michigan and a member of the Texas Association of Certified Public Accountants, the Michigan Association of Certified Public Accountants and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
