Love With Food, a food subscription business, has reached its remarkable milestone of donating over 100,000 meals to food banks all across the U.S. within 18 months of operation.

The San Francisco Bay Area startup sends monthly-curated box of gourmet snacks to its subscribers nationwide. For each box purchased, a meal is donated to feed the hungry within the United States. Hunger affects 1 in 5 children in the United States.

Love With Food has also recently stepped up on its mission during the recent tornadoes and subsequent flooding in Oklahoma by doubling its donation to Oklahoma for the months of May and June.

It is not the first time that the startup has reacted generously when tragedy strikes. It doubled its donations to food banks in New York and New Jersey when Hurricane Sandy struck in late 2012, donating a total of 24,500 meals to the affected areas within 2 months.

The startup had stood by its mission to donate one meal for every box purchased since its first month of operation in January 2012. Aihui Ong, founder of Love With Food realized how the problem of hunger is really prevalent in the United States after witnessing hunger and poverty when she was travelling around the world.

The young company has already caught the attention of several celebrities. Celebrity chef Andrew Zimmern curated Love With Food’s box in April this year, and meals were donated to Open Arms in Minnesota, where Zimmern is based.

“I love this company Love With Food and their cause in feeding hungry children in US,” tweeted Andrew Zimmern. Andrew Zimmern also released a video about partnering with Love With Food. Watch it here > http://youtu.be/BQsnvfj4jhY

Amy Roloff, from the famous TV show Little People, Big World, also curated Love With Food Thanksgiving box in November 2012.

Love With Food’s social cause has been well supported by their subscribers.

“This is why I subscribe to love with food,” commented Alana Zantapuolos, a Love With Food subscriber, “They are always giving back. (I’m) so glad to see a company that actually cares about the people.”
