Following a successful 2012-2013 season in which Red Shirt Entertainment experienced substantial growth, the New York-headquartered production company will be presenting a solo reading of "Running Into Me"; written and performed by Vickie Tanner. The event will take place at 4pm on Monday, June 24th at the Nuyorican Poets Cafe, located at 236 East 3rd Street in New York’s East Village. It is free of charge, although it is suggested that reservations be made at

“It is a pleasure to work with Vickie,” said Red Shirt Entertainment Artistic Producing Director Rajendra Ramoon Maharaj. “Her past work, including 'Running Into Me,' greatly aligns with the mission of Red Shirt, which is to give a voice to those who don’t have one.”

The plot of the one-woman show follows Tanner’s incredible life journey. From her days growing up in the dangerous Compton neighborhood of Los Angeles to her experience teaching in New York City public schools, the piece observes her relationships, family life, and pursuit of being an actress.

"This is a deeply personal piece and it means a great deal to me. I thank Red Shirt for offering me the chance to present it as we attempt to enrich the lives of urban youths," said Tanner.

"Running Into Me" is largely aimed at educating a younger audience and critiquing the effect that American pop culture has on children.

“We are happy to have Vickie collaborate with Red Shirt,” said Red Shirt Executive Producer Frank O’Brien. “Audience members of all ages and backgrounds should find value in this piece.”
