BURLINGTON, Mass. (PRWEB) June 12, 2013
Arbor Networks, Inc., a leading provider of network security and management solutions for enterprise and service provider networks, today announced that Ooredoo, formerly known as Qtel, Qatar’s leading communications company, has deployed Arbor Networks’ Peakflow® SP platform in the cloud and Pravail® platform on-premise to deliver an integrated managed security service offering to enterprises that utilizes best practices distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attack protection.
Ooredoo’s DDoS managed services solution monitors, analyzes and protects network operations through two major lines of defense, both powered by Arbor Networks. The first is Ooredoo’s centralized DDoS mitigation platform, Arbor’s Peakflow platform, which is hosted within Ooredoo’s world-class cloud infrastructure. This solution monitors and helps protect businesses’ WAN Internet services against large-scale attacks. Ooredoo is also providing a second line of defense called an application-layer security service. This hardware-based solution, leveraging Arbor’s Pravail platform, sits within the enterprise environment and is integrated with the cloud-based DDoS mitigation platform to detect internal, smaller-scale attacks and to actively monitor, alert and protect the enterprise IT environment.
“Arbor Networks delivers world-class network security services and this partnership between Ooredoo and Arbor demonstrates our commitment of service excellence to our customers. DDoS attacks are a global threat that can cripple even the largest of enterprises. Now our business customers of all sizes have a solution that can help provide a safe harbor against such attacks,” said Jonathan Haysom, Senior Manager, Fixed Data Services, Ooredoo.
“Ooredoo is showing its commitment to customer security by designing a service that leverages current best practices for DDoS defense. Attacks are so complex today, so varied, that strong defense starts with layered mitigation. Large attacks are best handled in the cloud, while application attacks and those against existing stateful infrastructure, such as firewall and IPS, are best mitigated on-premise, before they reach these vulnerable devices,” said Arbor Networks President Colin Doherty.
