Former security professional at Microsoft joins SECUDE to support the company’s growing business in the field of application data security using Information Rights Management (IRM) technologies.

SECUDE, a leading data security provider, is pleased to announce that Simon Thorpe has joined SECUDE’s team as Product Manager. In his new role, Simon will be responsible for leading the company’s efforts in the area of securing unstructured application data, and protecting the vast amount of confidential information flowing from enterprise applications. He will focus on the design and building of SECUDE products, while working with customers to define and deliver new solutions.

With a 15-year career that spans new product development, identity and access management, strategic partnerships, and marketing and sales, Simon has developed expertise in the technology and security industry. Simon comes to SECUDE from Microsoft, where he worked with the US sales organization to create security solutions for customers. Within Microsoft, he played a key role helping security professionals understand how to use Active Directory Rights Management Services (AD RMS) within their security strategies.

“Simon brings energy, experience, and unique perspective to our business, and we are thrilled to have him join the team,” says SECUDE’s CEO Dr. Heiner Kromer. “Simon is an incredibly talented executive with the rare ability to deeply understand technology, product management, marketing and sales, and the evolving security needs of today’s businesses. His unprecedented experience and knowledge of IRM will help SECUDE transform isolated security environments of SAP and Microsoft and provide business users around the world with the next level of security for their mobile and cloud data and safe digital collaboration.”

Simon’s experience of the information protection market is a lifelong journey that started almost 15 years ago in SealedMedia, a document security startup where he was the first employee. He was involved in the development, support, QA, sales, consulting, product management and marketing of the product. In 2006, when the technology was acquired into Oracle, Simon continued his involvement and worked on IRM solutions with companies around the globe as well as deploying the technology internally, protecting Oracle’s most valuable information. His next career step was to follow IRM technology to Microsoft, the market leader in the industry. His new position at SECUDE is the logical progression to bring his skills to the market, building the very latest IRM offerings.

“I am thrilled about joining SECUDE. I’ve been watching the information protection technologies at Microsoft grow significantly over the past year and I really wanted to build on top of them, but I didn’t want to leave my wonderful home of San Francisco to move to Redmond. SECUDE has given me the perfect opportunity to lead the creation of the next generation of security solutions. Their global experience and relationships with SAP, combined with engineering excellence, will give me the platform to bring to market the security solutions I know so many customers are desperate for.”
