Online Community Promotes Social Change Through Design

Dwell Media is proud to announce a partnership with the new digital community WE’VE ™, which combines design retail with social activism. WE’VE, created by sustainable design innovator Eve Blossom, will be unveiled at Dwell on Design and will be giving designers and consumers a sneak preview. WE’VE and Dwell champion fair trade and transparency in the supply trade. WE’VE at wevebuilt.com will sell curated artisanal products and will connect a community of designers; customers and artisans who share a common goal of beautifully designed sustainable products.

WE’VE is a for-profit social venture, emphasizing artistry and exquisite design while enhancing the economic development and sustainable livelihoods of artisans worldwide-from Asia, Africa, South America, Europe and the US. The idea for WE’VE originated from a design competition Blossom’s company Lulan Artisans sponsored. Designers from around the world interested in collaborating with artisans submitted more than 1600 designs in just 16 days, showing the strong desire to connect with these communities, but also the few resources to access them.

“Our commitment to innovative design in products and business models makes WE’VE a great partner for us. We love the focus on beautiful products combined with impact for artisanal cooperatives around the world. Good design should always have a good impact that also creates social change,” said Michela O’Connor Abrams, President of Dwell Media.

WE’VE is offering a sneak peak of wevebuilt.com to the first 100 designers that sign up on the website. Eve will be available to meet with interested designers and press Sunday June 23 in the VIP Lounge from 12-2pm by appointment. WE’VE’s private access Beta will be available for additional invites soon.

“It’s about marrying beauty and empowerment in a simple purchase,” says entrepreneur and Aspen fellow Eve Blossom. “After nine years with Lulan, we believe it is time to expand our model further in new regions of the world and with diverse artisanal products. WE’VE is that next step: where we join creative forces, share stories, leverage technology and make meaningful connections with talented makers everywhere in the world.”
