This approval from the ECA onto their Energy Technology List scheme is an important milestone for our business.
London, United Kingdom (PRWEB UK) 14 June 2013
The Vortex EcoSmart hand dryer from SAVORTEX has been approved and accepted onto the Energy Technology List (ETL) by the Enhanced Capital Allowance (ECA)
The Enhanced Capital Allowance (ECA) Scheme is a key part of the Government’s programme to manage climate change. It provides businesses with enhanced tax relief for investments in equipment that meets published energy-saving criteria.
The SAVORTEX Vortex EcoSmart energy efficient hand dryer is now approved by the ECA and has been successfully added to their Energy Technology List for meeting their specific energy saving eligibility criteria. The ECA scheme enables businesses to claim a 100% first year capital allowance on investments in certain energy saving equipment, against the taxable profits of the period of investment. Capital allowances enable businesses to write off the capital cost of purchasing new plant or machinery (e.g. boilers, motors), against their taxable profits.
Syed Ahmed, CEO SAVORTEX said:
“This approval from the ECA onto their Energy Technology List scheme is an important milestone for our business. Put simply, it means that companies who purchase our product can now benefit from 100% first year enhanced capital allowances on their expenditure. Furthermore, additional benefits of purchasing ECA qualifying energy efficient technologies include improved cash flow, lower energy bills and reduction in Climate Change Levy or CRC payment.”
He went on to say:
“We are delighted that we have been approved by Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC), Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs (HMRC) and the Treasury, this puts us in a very strong position indeed.”

SAVORTEX holds The Guinness World Records title for most hands dried using 30kJ of energy. This was devised by Guinness World Records officials as a challenge to measure the energy efficiency in hand drying. The Vortex EcoSmart successfully dried four pairs of hands using less than 30kJ of energy. Typically, hand dryers use between 72kJ and 96kJ of power to dry just one pair of hands. SAVORTEX successfully achieved four pairs of dry hands using just under 25kJ of energy – smashing the minimums set by Guinness World Records officials and claiming the world record.
