The Verizon Foundation has signed a two-year licensing agreement with mobile health company MedAdherence™ LLC to provide its proprietary patient engagement platform to health providers working with the underserved. The agreement, which leverages MedAdherence’s CarePlanManager™ platform, will be made available to Verizon Foundation’s healthcare partners, at up to 22 sites, and serve up to 5,000 patients.

“This agreement continues to validate our model for improving healthcare delivery as well as outcomes, and expands our patient engagement services to those who need it most,” says Jonathan Katz, chief executive officer of MedAdherence.

CarePlanManager™ is designed to help patients who have chronic conditions that require continuous care so that they comply with their care plans. Through this agreement, a number of the Foundation’s healthcare partners providing care to teens and adults with diabetes and asthma will have access to this platform.

“MedAdherence’s easy to use, text-messaging and voice based model is a good fit for our programs that reach underserved patient populations. Empowering patients to self-manage their health and improve health outcomes through the use of technology such as CarePlanManager is a natural fit for us as it reduces the impact of chronic disease on the most vulnerable populations, “ says Roselena Martinez of the Verizon Foundation.

The two organizations plan to roll out the service to the Foundation’s healthcare partners later this year.
