Independent Adoption Center (IAC), a non-profit, open adoption agency, is pleased to be featured on Hallmark Channel’s “Home & Family,” a daily television show featuring trends, ideas and useful information for everyday life. The episode airs Friday June 14th at 10:00am ET/PT 9:00am CT on the Hallmark Channel. Among the topics discussed will be: open adoption, the benefits of open adoption, how a family chooses open adoption and how a birthmother chooses a family.

Featured in the episode will be Dr. Jennifer Bliss, IAC Los Angeles Branch Director and Associate Counseling Director. Dr. Bliss will discuss open adoption from a clinical perspective. Also featured will be Ian and Lara, an IAC family who adopted a year ago. Ian and Lara will discuss how they came to want an open adoption, and how their adoption relationships work. Ali is an IAC alumni birthmother who placed her baby with Ian and Lara last year. She is also currently an intern at IAC where she is doing work to help connect birthmothers to provide peer support with each other. She’ll discuss how she came to choose an open adoption, why she chose Ian and Lara, and how their relationship works post-placement.
