A Gas Certificate is awarded to the home once the appliances have been checked by a Gas Safe registered engineer.

A major energy provider and housing charity in the UK have conducted research which found that of those privately renting properties in the UK, 10% do not have a current Gas Safety Certificate according to Business News on June 5.
A Gas Certificate is awarded to the home once the appliances have been checked by a Gas Safe registered engineer. The engineer will check that the gas appliances are burning correctly, harmful gases are removed safely from the appliance, ventilation is effective and that the appliance is in a good working condition.
A representative from emergency plumber and electrician specialists We Fix Now, who are able to effectively sort problems with gas, as well as providing emergency plumbers in Wembley and throughout London, commented on the recent findings:
“It is worrying that 10% of homes may not have gas appliances that are in good condition because it is appliances that are faulty or not maintained regularly which can cause problems such as gas leaks and the risk of carbon monoxide poisoning. On the one hand, it is reassuring that the number of homes which do not have an up-to-date Gas Safety Certificate is not higher, but on the other it is worrying that there are many who could be living with the risk of gas leaks and carbon monoxide poisoning. It is highly important to ensure your home is currently in possession of a current Gas Safety Certificate which offers reassurance that all gas appliances in the home are in a good condition.”
