Premium online ecard retailer, Katie's Cards, has announced that it will be adding a new birthday ecard to its website. The new ecard comes as part of a bid to attract more male members to the company's website.

We want our members to be able to send ecards to all the special people in their lives. From young sons, to fathers to husbands, we hope that by producing more ecards like this one, we can appeal to a more male audience.

Online ecard retailer, Katie’s Cards, has announced that it will be adding a new birthday ecard to its website this month. The new ecard, which is aimed predominantly at a male audience, signals a change of direction for the company. Currently, many of the birthday ecards on the company’s website are designed to appeal to women but this card marks a change in style which will, hopefully, enable the company to carry on appealing to a diverse demographic of members.

This new birthday ecard features an intrepid explorer hacking through a dense jungle. As the explorer clears a path in front of him he pulls back some leaves and realizes that he has stumbled across some ancient ruins. Carved into the crumbling ruins is a ‘happy birthday’ greeting.

Part of the reason that the company’s creative team decided on this theme for the ecard was the fact that Katie’s Cards has received numerous requests from customers asking for some less feminine ecards. As the company’s CEO, Katie Davies, has stated in the past, the company places great value on feedback from customers and is always grateful when customers suggest ideas for new ecards. By responding efficiently and creatively to such requests, the company is able to maintain a high level of customer retention. As Katie Davies explains:

“Even though the majority of our subscribers are women, we want them to be able to send our ecards to all of the special people in their lives. From young sons, to fathers to husbands, we hope that by producing more ecards like this one, we can appeal to a variety of different tastes and interests.”

Early pencil sketches of this birthday ecard appeared on the company’s blog last week. In early May, the company released sketches of its relatively new ‘belated birthday’ ecard and, due to the interest they received from customers about how the ecards are created, the Katie’s Cards team has decided to show this 'behind the scenes' process for more of its ecards. Davies continues:

“It’s important to us that our customers know that we are not a huge company churning out ecard after ecard. We are a small family-run business and, from the initial brainstorming, to the first rough pencil sketches to the final stages of bringing the ecards to life through animation, our entire creative process takes place in-house. This friendly, homemade ethos runs through the whole business from the ecard design process to our dedication to personal and reliable customer service.”

Interestingly, this new birthday ecard is not the first jungle-themed card to appear on the company’s website. Back in February 2012, Katie’s Cards launched their ‘Jungle Jingle’ ecard – a fun, animated children’s birthday ecard. Brightly coloured and accompanied by fun, steel drum music, the card features a variety of jungle animals gathering together to wish the recipient a 'happy birthday'.

This birthday ecard joins a diverse collection of birthday cards available to Katie’s Cards members. Like all the cards produced by the Katie’s Cards team, this new birthday ecard is environmentally friendly. The company’s green ethos is of the utmost importance to them and to their customers, many of whom choose to send ecards precisely because of the cards eco-friendly nature. When you send an ecard via Katie’s Cards, it immediately arrives in the inbox of the recipient and, since it doesn't have to travel by air, land or sea to be delivered, it has a very low carbon footprint. With the growing tendency of general public to pay attention to environmental issues, being sufficiently ‘green’ is essential for the survival of a small business like Katie’s Cards.
