Those who are moving abroad and are of retiring age have worked hard for their pensions and should receive advice in order to spend as little as possible on mundane yet important matters such as finance.

According to Expat Forum, more than 75 per cent of British people moving overseas are at risk of spending additional money unnecessarily. This is most likely to occur if they fail to take professional help and advice or do not par take in any research regarding financial matters and their new currency. Figures suggest that the most common type of expat to be effected by financial issues is those of pension age.

Statistics from the Office for National Statistics show that of the 352,000 that moved overseas only 113,000 left for work related reasons, meaning that a large percentage left to retire or travel – both of which add up to large pensions and personal assets.
The findings emphasise the importance of seeking an independent financial advisor who is an expert in helping expats and finding the best rates for exchanging money.

This idea is something that the international moving company Interdean have been encouraging for many years, offering external financial support through approved partnerships with Westpac bank and HiFX currency exchange.
