New Management Ushers New Era for IMS

It’s rich, it’s deep, and it’s one-of-a-kind. Welcome to the new IMS. For nearly thirty years, Sam Catanese, founder and former CEO, has compiled the largest library of direct response television data in the world. Since 1987, he has transitioned IMS into the information age and recalls coining the term “infomercial”. Now, new ownership promises compelling changes.

Leading the new team are Jeff White, Chairman and CEO, and Mark Thompson, CTO. Both have extensive experience curating and analyzing digital video. White spent the first twenty years of his career at HP managing global businesses. Since then, he has founded and operated multiple tech startups—including Fingerworks, which he sold to Apple and thus provided the revolutionary touch-screen technology used in for the iPhone, iPod, and iPad. Joining him, Thompson offers leadership experience in military intelligence, big data analytics, and digital video analysis.

Going forward, what will happen? The new IMS will unfold in multiple phases. White explains that, “The first phase will happen over the first six months. During this time, we will enhance our user experience allowing for increased data visualization. We’ve begun expanding our TV network coverage to include Spanish television. Ultimately, our insights will become integral across the entire Direct Response industry.”

Second, IMS will expand its monitoring capabilities to include local broadcasts and real-time data reports. In the third phase, the company will introduce break-through technologies that span beyond DR TV. IMS’ new capabilities will provide for mobile alerts, Internet TV, and real-time video tracking and analysis. As Thompson reveals, “We’re here to ensure that IMS resonates.”
