It took 140 years before women could even vote in this country, not until 1920. The current 113th Congress set a new record with 100 elected women, which is still less than 19% of Congress. Will a woman ever be equal to a man in America?

When will women be equal to men? It took nearly 200 years to pass the Equal Pay Act which passed 50 years ago this week in 1963 to address the harsh reality of women making only 59 cents to each dollar men made. This Act, after 50 years, has only gotten women 18 cents closer to equality or to 77 cents today on the dollar made by men. At this rate, women might hope for Equal Pay shortly before the year 2100.

There are more women in America than there are men, 50.8% or 157.0 Million females to 49.2% 151.8 Million males. Female voices could rule the day in our democracy and our government; women are the majority. Why don't they?

Is it because women would rather avoid the confrontational arguments of politics? What if there was an easier way to have one’s voice heard and to have respectful dialogues? Would women and minorities be more willing to engage if they were heard with respect and common courtesy prevailed? Has the bullying and rudeness of the male dominated system turned women, and others, off to politics?

Now there is another way, UnitedAmericans.com is able to connect everybody’s cell phones to educate people and to gather their opinions and ideas through text messaging. This is not a perfect solution, but it "creates a more perfect union" than what exists now, and it is founded on respect and on the principle of listening instead of shouting. It is as revolutionary of an idea as forming a union of 13 United States was in 1776, to live as United Americans, supporting and listening to each other in the 50 States of this One Nation.

United Americans is seeking the first 100 people, 50 women and 50 men, from all 50 States willing to participate and pledge $13 each, in honor of our colonies, to launch UnitedAmericans.com and revolutionize the country by bringing equality, civility and respect to all voices. This contribution includes a one year membership, with other Americans, to receive one text message question per week and a report of the results broken down by State, Congressional District, gender and other demographics. United Americans is an initiative of OneCounts, a Utah based company, which has directed the largest town hall meetings in America for AmericaSpeaks, a non-profit, non-partisan organization based in Washington, DC.

There are only a few days left to launch UnitedAmericans.com - who will be the "Founding Funders?" To find out more simply text the word EQUAL to 202-888-1400, it really is just this easy.
