Manchester, UK (PRWEB UK) 24 June 2013
Employee benefits programmes provider Edenred has added another ISO accreditation to its tally, this time recognising its commitment to identifying and controlling its environmental management.
The ISO 14001:2004 is a Europe-wide standard, which lays down benchmarks for any organisation which wants to establish, implement, maintain and improve an environmental management system.
It also requires the company to demonstrate that it conforms to the standard which it lays down for all its operations in all the environmental factors within its control.
As part of its efforts to improve its operations in order to meet the new standard, Edenred had to show that it had initiatives in place with the aims of reducing its energy consumption, and fostering awareness of sustainability issues among its workforce by encouraging them to participate in the 'Reduce, Re-use, Recycle' scheme.
Edenred also had to satisfy the assessors that it was committed to supporting environmental projects in the community around its base, on the edge of the ancient city of Chester in north-west England.
As part of its commitment to spreading knowledge about the requirement for and benefits of companies having an environmental management strategy, Edenred has also introduced a new 'E.Hub' on its website.
This is designed to be a forum for the exchange of knowledge and best practice in the sphere of environmental management.
And Edenred UK Marketing Director, Andy Philpott, said the granting of ISO 14001:2004 status to the company showed that the company practised what it was preaching to its business partners.
"Good corporate citizenship is at the heart of our approach to business," he said.
"The new ISO certificate shows our commitment to minimising and continually improving the impact of our business on the environment."
