CME Outfitters is Accepting Registration For Upcoming Online neuroscienceCME Journal Club Activity with Interactive Q&A Focusing on Improving Outcomes in Restless Legs Syndrome

CME Outfitters (CMEO), a leading accredited provider in continuing medical education announces its upcoming online neuroscienceCME Journal Club CME/CE activity entitled, “RLS for RLS: Resources, Learnings, and Strategies for Improving Outcomes in Restless Legs Syndrome.” The live activity launches Wednesday, July 10 at 12:30pm ET. CMEO invites physicians, physician assistants, nurses, nurse practitioners, pharmacists, and other health care professionals with an interest in restless legs syndrome to attend.

This neuroscienceCME Journal Club activity features expert faculty W. Vaughn McCall, MD, MS, and William G. Ondo, MD discussing a recent, peer-reviewed meta-analysis of RLS pharmacotherapy options published by the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality, titled, “Treatment for Restless Legs Syndrome: Comparative Effectiveness Review No. 86.” Using the featured article as a springboard for comparison, learners will explore the efficacy and safety of drug therapy for RLS and optimal selection of therapy as outlined in the recently updated 2012 guidelines on RLS from the American Academy of Sleep Medicine.

In preparation for the Journal Club, W. Vaughn McCall, MD, MS recommends that participants think about the following learning points:
1.    What is the rationale for initiating treatment for RLS?
2.    How do we go about judging the evidence for RLS treatment, and prioritizing treatment according to likely benefit and risk?
3.    What is the evidence for RLS treatments that have been approved since the advent of dopamine agonists as treatments for RLS?

The Journal Club faculty will discuss how the findings of the study may guide clinicians’ practices related to:

  •     Explaining the health-related quality of life effects of restless legs syndrome and its associated comorbidities.
  •     Planning and implementing evidence-based treatment regimens for patients with restless legs syndrome that are in accordance with updated, 2012 guidelines from the American Academy of Sleep Medicine.

There is no fee to register for or participate in the program, however registration is required. There are two easy ways to register:
