MusicDish*China announced that Taiwanese electronic act RED has been invited to perform at rAsia.com Festival in Moscow being held June 24-25, 2013. rASiA.com is a unique large-scale event presenting modern global trends coming from Asia and variety of achievements through innovation in culture, new technologies and digital media. For RED that performed at China's Qingdao International Music Festival and Chengdu Zebra Music Festival last year, this will be their first performance outside Asia, let alone in Russia.
On June 24th, they will perform at the opening Gala Show of the rAsia.com Festival at Izvestia Concert Hall, one of Moscow's top concert halls in one of its most famous buildings, followed by a show on June 25th at Stariki bar where some of Moscow's finest monthly house music parties take place.
RED took shape in 2010 when music producer, composer, recording and mixing engineer DJ Code met Shao Shih in his studio to record the demo tape for an ad campaign. Impressed by her delicate yet powerful vocals, he invited her to collaborate on a song of his upcoming album "Asia River." With the success of the resulting song, "Snow", whose lyrics come from famous Chinese modern poet Hsu Chih-mo, Shao Shih and DJ Code decided to form "Red."
RED's music is a bridge between music from the East and West, combining electronic music styles from House to D'n'B, with Chinese traditional influences. With a background in classical and electronic music, Pierre Hujoel adds the interplay of electronic keyboard and triggers to weave in traditional Chinese instruments and percussions dialoguing with one another, bringing a whole new kind of performance to the music scene.
DJ Code released his debut EP "The Gate" on Beatport in 2009. Soon, the single "Buddha" became one of the top 50 downloads on the site, while his composition has been at the leading edge in the electronic music of Asia. In 2010, he signed with HiNote Records and released his full-length album "Asia River." His work has since been used in TV commercials such as Kenzo and The Discovery Channel, while he composes music and performs for brands ranging from ASUS and Audi to Lexus and Taipei Expo.
