The article, 10 Interesting Digital marketing Stats We’ve Seen This Week, published 14th June in Econsultancy, reveals that the ads served before video content are becoming one of the fastest growing forms of advertising. In fact, research from AdoTube has shown that interactive pre-rolls accounted for 72% of the share of in-stream video ads in the UK in 2012, compared with 36% globally. In contrast, ads that run on top of the main video are not as popular in the UK, with just 2.5% of ads served compared to 18% around the world.

The ads with interactive capabilities worked best, with those that allow users to play a game for example, achieving 4.8% interaction compared to 3.0% globally. Click through rates to the advertiser’s website were also up at 3.7% compared to 2.6%.

The specialists at Absolute Digital Media provide an integrated approach to online marketing, including video and display marketing. The new research prompted a member of the team to share their thoughts on the benefits of their channel.

“This is definitely a trend that is fast gathering pace as using a pre-roll ensures your ad gets views. These statistics prove the value of this form of marketing in the UK and we would expect this to become more popular as a result. Adding an interactive element also seems to be the most effective way of improving follow up actions.”
